Hotel de Crillon ParisDesigned by Jacques-Ange Gabriel for Louis XV in 1758, the Hotel de Crillon on the Place de la Concorde has lost little of its 18th-century splendor. Behind Gabriel's perfect classic facade, the sumptuous honey-colored marble lobby glitters with mirrors and crystal chandeliers, the noble staircase marches up to stately columned halls and the grand salons with gilded moldings still look out over the most beautiful public square in the world. Legendary Hotel de Crillon opened its doors in 1909, and has welcomed some of this century's most illustrious guests, serving as temporary residence and stopping place for royalty, statesmen, artists and entertainment figures. The 109 guest rooms and 51 suites have been restored in Louis XV style under the auspices of the French National Historic Landmark Commission and joint efforts by Sonia Rykiel and award-winning architect Jean Lou Roubert. All of the rooms have been recently redecorated and are fully air-conditioned and sound-proof. Address |
